An industrious woodchopper in front of a typical Black Forest House is shown on this original Cuckoo Clock from the Black Forest, with its traditional Black Forest hip roof. The solid-wood case is richly decorated with filigree half-timbered design, a balcony and a rounded window with green heart shutters and flower boxes. In front of the house the clock is lovingly adorned with a covered water wheel, woodchopper, pine tree and woodstack. The solid-wood cuckoo bird calls on the full hour with the number of the hour (e.g. 3 times at 3 p.m.) and calls once on the half-hour.  Everytime the cuckoo calls, the woodchopper moves his ax up and down. After the cuckoo calls, on both the hour and half-hour, one of the two alternating melodies plays. The water wheel turns to the music, and the folklore couples dance to the melody. This clock model has a manual night-switch-off. Clockface, numbers and Clock hands are made of wood. The mechanical clockwork runs for 24 hours.
