"The house dragon" is depicted on this original Black Forest cuckoo clock, with shingled hip roof and chimney. The wood case is stained in walnut, with a lighter-colored foundation wall on the house front. The house front is  decorated with miniature windows with little red shutters and little flower boxes. The farm dog watches protectively over his two companions amidst the flower beds. The solid-wood cuckoo calls the number of the hour on every full hour (e.g. 3:00 p.m. or 3:00 a.m. 3 times) and once on the half-hour. After the cuckoo call on the hour and half-hour, one of the two alternating melodies plays. The angry housewife swings her rolling pin during the music, while the carefree beerdrinkers raise their glasses. The water wheel and the folklore dance figurines also move to the music. This clock has a manual as well as an automatic night switch off. Clockface, numbers and hands are all made of wood. The mechanical clockwork runs for 24 hours. This classic model is crafted by the Anton Schneider company in Schonach, a family business that had its beginning in a farmhouse in 1848, and has grown to be one of the largest cuckoo clock producers in the area.
