Family life on the farm is shown on this original Black Forest Cuckoo Clock. The grandfather is gazing proudly at his granddaughter as she feeds the goat, while the mother goat is watching carefully from behind the water trough. The wooden casing is stained in walnut with a shingled chalet roof, complete with bell tower and a chimney in white and decorated with stones. The housefront is decorated with much detail, including the filigree roof edging, as well as the balcony above the clockface. The housefront is decorated with a suggested white stone wall on wood as a contrast to the darker wood stain of the rest of the house. Little lattice windows with red shutters and flower boxes complete the beautiful picture, as well as the many carved elements around the clock. The solid wood case is stained in walnut and decorated with miniature windows with shutters, flower boxes and a balcony on the housefront. On the left side of the house, there is a water wheel amidst the pine trees.The solid-wood cuckoo calls the number of the hour on every full hour (e.g. 3:00 p.m. or 3:00 a.m. 3 times) and once on the half-hour.  After the cuckoo calls on the hour and half-hour, one of the two alternating melodies plays. During the music, the little girl feeds her goat, the water wheel turns, and the dancing children figurines turn to the music on the balcony. The clockface, numbers and clockhands are all made of wood. This clock has a manual night switch off. The mechanical clockwork runs for 24-hours.The clock comes in an original box with complete instructions.
