Product info
This magnificent cuckoo clock depicts a stately Black Forest farm with shingled roof, mill wheel and cow shed attached to the side. Curtains and red painted shutters decorate the windows. Spruce trees stand on both sides of the house and in front of the house we see the farmer with his dog. Many working utensils are present, such as hay rakes, wood saws and a small hand cart. The cow shed door is open; two cows are just walking out.
The wooden cuckoo calls the number of hours on the hour (e.g. 3 times at 3 p.m.) and once on the half hour. At the same time the farmer chops wood.
After the cuckoo call, one of the two melodies sounds every hour. The figures on top of the balcony dance and the mill wheel on the left side of the house turns. The dial, numerals and hands are made of wood, as are the entire house and the figures. The mechanical rake striking mechanism runs for a week. This model has an automatic night shut-off.
HANGING NOTE: This cuckoo clock has an opening on the back of each part of the building for hanging and therefore requires two hooks or nails at an appropriate distance!
This original Black Forest cuckoo clock is manufactured by the company August Schwer in Schönwald, an owner-operated family business founded in 1885.
