Blacksmiths were always needed in the Black Forest to keep the horses fit for work and for riding. This is still true today. On this original Black Forest Cuckoo Clock with shingled hip roof, An industrious blacksmith is busy preparing a new horse shoe for his horse, accompanied by his faithful farm dog. The housefront is richly decorated with many rich wooden handcrafted details, and surrounded by several handcarved and handpainted pine trees. The solid wood case is decorated with miniature windows with red shutters in heart design and flowerboxes.

The cuckoo opens the door at the hour, and tweets and calls out the number of the hour with an echo. Afterwards one of the 12 alternating melodies are played. During the music, the blacksmith beats on his metal to make a horse shoe, and the children dance on the balcony above. On the side you will find a switch to turn off the music separately, or both the cuckoo and the music.
