Pinocchio is the most famous italian fairy tale character from Carlo Collodi. The carpenter Gepetto carvs a wooden doll from a piece of wood, and the doll comes to life and enjoys lots of adventures, until he has become a responsible little boy. The chalet house with shingled roof is wonderfully decorated with filigree wooden overlays that provide a contrasting, darker stain to the natural wood color of the solid wood casing of the clock.The roof front has a beautiful two-toned trimming. The half-timbered, tudor housefront is lovingly decorated with rounded lattice windows with heart shutters and little flower boxes, both to the left and right of the dancing figurines, as well as to the left and right of the clockface. On the lower part of the housefront, a depicted stone wall made of wood is the backdrop for the encased water wheel The carpenter Gepetto is doing his carving while Pinocchio looks on. The cat is keeping her eye on the bird on the tree stump near the carved and handpainted pine tree. A special feature is the beautifully crafted wooden pendulum with Edelweiss Flowers. The cuckoo opens the door at the full hour, "tweets", and calls with Echo, telling the number of the hour. After the cuckoo call, one of the 12 alternating melodies plays. During the music, the water wheel turns, and the handcrafted and handpainted wooden figurines dance on the balcony. The clock has a manual night switch off, and also a light sensor to automatically turn off the cuckoo  and music sound when it is dark. The Quartz battery clockwork is run by three 1,5V Size C batteries that are delivered with the clock. The clock comes in an original box with instructions. This clock model is produced by the Trenkle company in Simonswald, a family business that has been around for the last 50 years, and prides itself in combining the traditional handcrafting with new technical developments.
