A chicken thief gets caught in the act on this Black Forest House Cuckoo Clock. The farmer's wife sits in the rocking chair, pets the cat on her lap and has no clue what's going on in the hen-coop.  The chalet house with grey shingled roof is wonderfully decorated with filigree wooden overlays that provide a contrasting, darker stain to the white color of the solid wood casing of the clock. The lattice windows and the water wheel accentuate the clock very well. The cuckoo opens the door at the full hour, "tweets", and calls with Echo, telling the number of the hour. After the cuckoo call, one of the 12 alternating melodies plays and the water wheel turns and  the farmer tries to hit the thief with a broom. The clock has a manual night switch off, and also a light sensor to automatically turn off the cuckoo  and music sound when it is dark. The clock face, the numbers, and the clock hands are made of wood.  The Quartz battery clockwork is run by three 1,5V Size C batteries that are delivered with the clock (except in the USA). The cuckoo clock comes in an original box with complete instructions. This clock model is produced by the Trenkle company in Simonswald, a family business that has been around for the last 50 years, and prides itself in combining the traditional handcrafting with new technical developments.
