The Black Forest ist a hiking paradise. In earlier times, the residents of the Black Forest were forced to march through the area because there was no other method of transportation. Today hiking has become a very popular hobby for relaxation, both for visitors and for the local residents here in the Forest.This handcrafted Cuckoo Clock with chalet roof depicts a hardy young hiker as he travels by foot by this colorfully adorned Chalet House with handcrafted red-shingled roof with bell tower. Lovingly crafted details such as wonderfully formed domestic animals, carved pine trees, and a fenced-in water wheel that turns along with the dancing figurines when one of the 12 melodies plays at the hour. The local farm boy comes around the corner to greet the stranger travelling by his home, and to greet the hiker's faithful dog.

The cuckoo opens the door at the full hour, "tweets", and calls with Echo, telling the number of the hour. After the cuckoo on the hour, one of the 12 alternating melodies plays, to which the folklore figurines dance. On the side there is a switch to turn off the music separately, or both the music and cuckoo together. The clock has an automatic night switch off through a light sensor, which automatically turns the cuckoo sound off when it is dark. The clockface and clockhands are made of wood. The Quartz battery clockwork is run by three 1,5V Size C batteries. The clock comes in an original box with complete instructions. This clock model is produced by the Trenkle company in Simonswald, a family business that has been around for the last 50 years, and prides itself in combining the traditional handcrafting with new technical developments.
