An enchanting forest scene in the Black Forest is shown on this beautifully carved Black Forest Cuckoo Clock. Handcarved squirrels hide between the oak leaves, and up in the tree top, the bird is ready to take flight. The solid wood case is stained in walnut, and is framed by oak leaves and a hunter's horn and bag. The cuckoo opens the door at the full hour, "tweets", and calls with Echo, telling the number of the hour. After the cuckoo call, one of the 12 alternating melodies plays, to which the handcarved folklore figurines dance in time. The clock has a switch on the side to shut off just the music or both music and cuckoo. There is additionally a light sensor to automatically turn off the cuckoo and music sound when it is dark. The Quartz battery clockwork is run by three 1,5V Size C batteries that are delivered with the clock. The clock comes in an original box with complete instructions. This clock model is produced by the Trenkle company in Simonswald, a family business that has been around for the last 50 years, and prides itself in combining the traditional handcrafting with new technical developments.
