Watchful bird parents are depicted on this original Black Forest Cuckoo Clock. Has the cuckoo already laid his egg in their nest? The wooden case is stained in walnut and framed with carved and handpainted maple leaves. The solid-wood cuckoo calls the number of the hour on every full hour (e.g. 3:00 p.m. or 3:00 a.m. 3 times) and once on the half-hour.  After the cuckoo call on the full hour, one of the two alternating melodies plays, and the folklore dance figurines turn to the music on the balcony. The clock has a manual night switch off, and also a light sensor to automatically turn off the cuckoo  and music sound when it is dark. Clockface, numbers and clock hands are made of wood. The mechanical clockwork runs for a week.
