On this original Black Forest Cuckoo Clock, owls announce the birth of their young, who are sitting in the nest hidden among the oak leaves. The owl mother is perched proudly on a branch. The wood casing is carved in walnut. The solid-wood cuckoo calls the number of the hour on every full hour (e.g. 3:00 p.m. or 3:00 a.m. 3 times) and once on the half-hour.  After the cuckoo calls on both the hour and half-hour, one of the two alternating melodies plays. During the music, folklore dancers turn to the music on the balcony.  The clockface, numbers and clockhands are all made of wood. This clock has a manual night switch off. The mechanical clockwork runs for 24 hours.
