CUCKOO CLOCK - HALF-TIMBERED HOUSE

The designer of this unusual half-timbered cuckoo clock was inspired by the historic, late Gothic town hall of Alsfeld. The second floor of this building, was really once a dance floor. To the medieval turrets and arches fits very well the night watchman with his lantern. In front of the house, old and young people cavort: children playing and a hunter chatting with another man. 
At the full and half hour the cuckoo comes out of his little door at the top and calls, at the full hour as often as it is (e.g. 3 times at 3 pm). After that, one of 2 melodies plays every hour alternately, and to the music the couples turn on the dance floor. 
This cuckoo clock was made by the company Anton Schneider in Schonach, which started in 1848 in a farmhouse and has established itself as one of the largest manufacturers to date.
