On this magnificent Black Forest clock with shingled hipped roof and carved fir trees, in the middle of the forest, we encounter two Black Forest figures from the good old days: On the left side we see a woman in Gutachtäler traditional costume with Bollen hat. The red color of the hat means that she is still unmarried. On her arm she carries a basket with the fresh lunch bread, which she brings to the father and the brothers, who are there cutting wood in the forest. On the right, a watchman walks with long steps. He carries on his back a heavy knapsack full of Black Forest clocks for sale in the next village.
The wooden cuckoo calls the number of hours on the hour (e.g. 3 times at 3 p.m.) and once on the half hour.  After the cuckoo call, one of the two melodies sounds every hour. To the music, the dancing couples dressed in traditional costumes move on the balcony. This model has an automatic night shut-off. The dial, numerals and hands are also made of wood.
The mechanical rake striking mechanism runs for one week. This Black Forest cuckoo clock is made by the Hönes company in Titisee, which is deeply rooted in the centuries-old tradition of clockmaking and stands for Black Forest craftsmanship.
