The cuckoo chirps the number of hours with an echo on the hour. Then one of the 12 different melodies sounds. There is a switch on the side to turn off the music separately or manually together with the cuckoo. A light sensor automatically switches off the sound in the dark, but the time continues to run. This clock is powered by a quartz movement that requires three 1.5V size C batteries. The cuckoo clock comes in its original box with instructions for use. This Black Forest cuckoo clock is manufactured by the Trenkle company, a family business in Simonswald that has been in existence for half a century. Their trademark is to combine proven craftsmanship with the latest technology.
